Back in high school my German teacher decided to teach her class with the help of a German copy of Harry Potter. My friend Alison was in that class with me. I don’t really remember doing much actual work, but that book did inspire my friend and I to begin a collection of Harry Potter books published in different languages. Today I went to the book store in search of a Chinese copy. I was able to find the English version of the book, but when I asked about “Harry Potter” the woman attempting to help me seemed very confused. After a few attempts to act out and explain the book I was talking about she finally exclaimed “HALLY BABA!” and sent me to the back of the store, where several copies were stored in the children’s section.
